MOFT was over the moon to be an in-kind partner at TED2022 which returned last week after a 3-year break due to the global pandemic. Visionaries and innovators from all over the world convened in Vancouver for the 5-day event themed “A New Era”.

Known for pushing the boundaries, this year’s TED speakers did not disappoint. Poignant talks around wide-ranging topics from climate change and economics, health and science, art and design, and productivity and creativity, encourage hope and stir innovation for a brighter future. As a work lifestyle brand, we were particularly drawn to the Sessions on Imagination, Wellness, Play, and Courage.

In this spirit, we were so honored to be selected for this year’s gifting program which focused on sustainable materials, the future of travel and work, and web3. In prioritizing sustainability and minimizing waste, guests were able to curate their own gift bag so each guest received a personalized gift that they were sure to enjoy. We are keen on this approach to giving and appreciate knowing many TED attendees will go home with new MOFT companions to empower them to move freely and work easily anywhere!

After more than two years of a global pandemic, the future of work and travel is on everyone’s minds, a theme represented by offerings like Moft laptop and phone stands, which make it easy to work comfortably from anywhere.

It was also a wonderful surprise to see the friendly TED team using MOFT onsite to check-in guests more conveniently and comfortably. Doesn’t hurt that the origami shapes look pretty cool in the conference hall too!

Here are a few of our favorite talks!

Korean conceptual artist Anicka Yi shared the stage with one of her magical “aerobes” from her latest exhibition at the Tate Modern. The ethereal creature floated onto the stage resembling a magical Octopus-like hybrid. By giving life and animal qualities to the soft robot, she inspired wonderment instead of the fear often associated with machines.

French street artist JR closed out the Imagination Session with an emotionally uplifting story of transforming a high-security prison in CA with one of his wheatpaste photography projects working alongside inmates and prison guards showing humanity and the power of community to overcome difficult and often misunderstood circumstances. We may have teared up!

You don’t get much cooler than Minecraft game director Agnes Larsson! In the Play Session, she dispels the idea of a single metaverse by sharing the joys of endless metaverses created by and belonging to individual players. These special places can be accessible to everyone, surmounting inequities in the real world, where anyone can build, be creative, spend time others, and spark ideas and communities that have an impact in the real world

As attendees head back to their homes and hybrid workspaces, we are inspired by the conversation starters that will spark new ideas and solutions to pressing problems. We hope MOFT will be a part of their everyday toolset that can help them realize ideas for a better tomorrow.
